Egypt. New Kingdom, 1550-1075 BC. Blue-glazed steatite scarab (18x13mm). Base inscribed with a scarab flanked by two Uraei; sun above, hieroglyph nb below; all within linear border. Back finely carved with defined legs, head, clypeus, and wings. Pierced for suspension. Minor surfaces cracks and tiny edge chip. Much of glazing remaining. An attractive piece.


The hieroglyphs can be read as: “Eternal life of the lord of the Lower Kingdom”.
