Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.69 g, 6h). Lugdunum (Lyon) mint. Struck 8 BC. Laureate head left / Caius Caesar on horseback, galloping right, holding sword and reins; to left, an aquila between two signa. RIC I 199 var. (head right); cf. Lyon 70 (aureus); RSC 40 var. (head right). VF, toned, struck off center, some green deposits on reverse. Unpublished with head left, for another example see Triton XI, lot 853.
