THRACE, Maroneia. Late 2nd-mid 1st centuries BC. AR Tetradrachm (32.5mm, 18.25 g, 12h). Contemporary imitation. Wreathed head of young Dionysos right / Dionysos standing half-left, holding grapes and narthex stalks; monograms flanking. For prototype, cf. Schönert-Geiss 1111–20 and BMC 59. VF, toned, shallow test cut on edge. A high-quality imitation, only discernible by its overly high weight and slightly irregular style and epigraphy.
Ex McKenna FPL 9-12 (11 December 1979), no. 8.
