THRACO-MACEDONIAN TRIBES, Bisaltai. Circa 475-465 BC. AR Oktadrachm (30mm, 27.96 g). Bridled horse being led to right by male wearing petasos and holding two spears; helmet above the spear points in right field / Quadripartite incuse square. Peykov A3080 (second illustration) = Lanz 74 (20 November 1995), lot 142 var. (helmet below spear points); HPM –; AMNG –; Raymond –; Draganov –; Traité –; Ratto (26 April 1909), lot 1845 var. (same). VF, toned, porous in areas, large pit on head of horse. Extremely rare with helmet symbol. None in CoinArchives, possibly the first at auction since the Lanz specimen.
