SICILY, Tyndaris(?). 2nd-1st centuries BC. Æ (13mm, 2.36 g, 6h). Veiled head left / Piloi of the Dioskouroi. Cf. Campana 21; cf. BAR Issue 11; cf. CNS 22; cf. HGC 2, 1646 (all with obv. type right, larger module with ethnic on rev.). VF, brown surfaces. Unpublished issue.

From the Continental Collection.

This coin is placed at Tyndaris based solely on the commonality of types with the issue referenced above. In addition to the differences noted, the style of this coin appears to be much more rudimentary, suggesting a later emission. The absence of the city ethnic, however, is very unusual for Tyndaris and suggests that this may be an issue of another city, or perhaps an unofficial issue based on the Tyndaris type.
