327, Lot: 294. Estimate $75.
Sold for $60. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

BRUTTIUM, Lokroi Epizephyrioi. Circa 200 BC. Æ (18mm, 4.17 g, 5h). Jugate busts of the Dioskouroi right / Zeus seated left, holding phiale and scepter; cornucopia to right. HN Italy 2423; SNG ANS 583–5; SNG Morcom 438–9. Near VF, green patina, minor roughness.

From the Continental Collection.

Although HN Italy places this issue among the coins given to the time of Pyrrhos, its style and fabric is clearly later, thus Morcom’s late dating is more likely.
