SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Alexander I Balas. 152-145 BC. AR Tetradrachm (30mm, 16.61 g, 1h). Antioch mint. Dated SE 164 (149/8 BC). Diademed head right / Zeus Nikephoros seated left; monograms to inner and outer left, ΔΞP (date) and monogram in exergue. Cf. SC 1782.2a and 1782.3; HGC 9, 875a; DCA 118. Good Fine, toned, scratches, large test cut.

This coin appears to be a variety between Seleucid Coins nos. 1782.2a and 1782.3. It has the primary control and secondary control monograms to the inner and outer left, like 1782.2a, but also has the additional control monogram in the exergue (most likely monogram d or g), to the right of the date, which is obscured, possibly because it was supposed to have been erased from the die.
