ISLAMIC, Arab-Sasanian coinage. Khusro type with bism allāh. Circa 7th century. BI Bracteate “Drachm” (33mm, 0.94 g). Crowned Sasanian-style bust right; bism allāh in margin / Incuse of reverse. Good VF, toned.

This unusual, uniface piece is struck on a thin and delicate flan in what appears to be debased silver. Its fabric is reminiscent of thin, gold bracteates struck along the Silk Road for funerary use and imitating late Roman, Byzantine, and Hunnic types. These, however, are typically crude imitations, whereas our piece is in fine style and may have been the product of an official mint.
