KINGS of LYDIA. Alyattes. Circa 610-560 BC. EL Trite (12mm, 4.72 g). Sardes mint. Head of roaring lion left, “sun” on forehead; WALWEL (in Lydian) downward on left / Two square punches. Cf. Weidauer Group XVII, 3–4 (different style and legend orientation); NFA XXVII, lot 63 (same obv. die). VF, usual die rust on obverse. Very rare.
