297, Lot: 478. Estimate $300.
Sold for $407. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

Constantine I. AD 307/310-337. AR Siliqua (21mm, 2.75 g, 12h). Heraclea mint. Struck AD 336-337. Laurel and rosette-diademed head right, gazing upward / Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm; SMH. Cf. RIC VII 140 (Nicomedia); cf. RSC 97n (Nicomedia). VF, toned, deep flan crack.

Ex Rauch (23 January 2004), lot 1599.

This rosette-diademed head is recorded from most of the mints striking this siliqua type, but not for Heraclea. There may be some confusion between SMH for Heraclea and SMN for Nicomedia, as there is no logical reason for Heraclea to skip this variety.
