KINGS of THRACE. Lysimachos. 305-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27mm, 16.45 g, 11h). Uncertain mint. Posthumous issue, struck mid 3rd century BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield, spear behind; herm(?) to inner left. Apparently unpublished. VF, edge chips, some porosity, rough surfaces.

The herm was apparently a popular symbol on some early posthumous Lysimachos type tetradrachms. W. Fischer-Bossert published a die study of the Thracian issues related to the series bearing the name of Skostokos, and SNG Berry 464 is another of this type, but clearly from a different (possibly non-Thracian) mint by virtue of its style. As with the Berry piece, the present coin has a style unlike the usual Thracian issue.
