Sold for $110. This amount does not include the buyer’s fee.

THESSALY, Larissa. Circa 440-400 BC. AR Obol (11mm, 0.85 g, 6h). Horse prancing right / Λ-A above, P-I (retrograde) below, the nymph Larissa stooping to right to adjust her sandal; single-handled hydra to right; all within shallow incuse square. BCD Thessaly I 1117 (same dies; hammer of CHF 8500). Fine, scattered scratches and porosity.

From the BCD Collection.

It was noted in the first BCD catalog that Larissa appears to be resting her left foot on the retrograde “P”, which serves as a charming incorporation of the legend into the reverse scene.
