JUDAEA, Herodians. Herod III Antipas. 4 BCE-39 CE. Æ (13mm, 3.25 g, 11h). Tiberias mint. Dated RY 24 (20/1 CE). Legend in two lines within wreath / Upright reed; [L] K[Δ] (date) across field. Meshorer 77a; Hendin 1201; RPC I 4920. VF, earthen green patina.
From the Patrick H. C. Tan Collection.
This coin is unusual in that while it carries the types of the quarter denomination, Hendin 1201, the dies are small and of the same size as the eighth denomination, Hendin 1202. Meshorer notes the smaller variety.
