Vespasian. AD 69-79. Æ Sestertius (33mm, 26.80 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 71. Laureate bust right, wearing aegis / Temple of Isis. RIC II - (but cf. 166 [1st issue] and 204 [2nd issue] for rev. type). Good Fine, reddish-brown patina, reverse double struck. Extremely rare and highly interesting.


Part of Vespasian’s first sestertius issue of AD 71, the type marks the first time in Roman Imperial coinage where an Egyptian deity is commemorated.
