PHOENICIA, Sidon. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Time of Tiberius, AD 14-37. Æ (26mm, 4.89 g, 12h). Dated CY 127 (AD 17/8). Altar before tetrastyle temple with tall podium and scroll ornament in pedement; isolated column to either side / Europa, holding billowing veil, on bull left; ZKP (date) below. Rouvier 1441; RPC I 2571 note. Near VF, green patina. Rare.
Although faint, this coin seemingly confirms Rouvier’s reading of a date of 127 for this type, which was doubted by the authors of RPC and placed under their no. 2571 (dated 117).
