JUDAEA, Sepphoris (Diocaesaraea). Nero. AD 54-68. Æ 21mm (5.95 g, 11h). Vespasian, procurator. Struck RY 14 (67/8 CE). Legend in five lines within linear circle, all within laurel-wreath / Legend citing Vespasian around large S C. RPC I 4850; Meshorer 128; Hendin 587. Near Fine, gray patina with earthen highlights, minor roughness and striking weakness. The rarer of the two types from Sepphoris citing Vespasian as procurator. Only three specimens are cited in RPC.


The reverse of this coin names the future Emperor Vespasian while he was still a general under Nero.
