GAUL, Auxiliary mint of Lugdunum(?). Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. Æ Brockage Semis or Quadrans (18mm, 2.00 g). Struck 10 BC. Laureate head right / Incuse of obverse. Cf. RPC I 508; cf. RIC I 227; cf. BMCRE 563. Near VF, dark green patina, flan crack.

From the Richard Prideaux Collection.

Giard, in Le monnayage de l’atelier de Lyon, regards this issue as a product of an auxiliary mint of Lugdunum. If not struck in Lugdunum, they were probably minted in the territory of the Lingones, the Aedui, or the Sequani.
