John VIII Palaeologus. 1425-1448. AR Stavraton (24mm, 7.08 g). Constantinople mint. Nimbate bust of Christ facing, raising hand in benediction, holding Gospels; lis and pellet / Facing bust of John, nimbate and crowned; two pellets. DOC V 1649; SB 2563-4. Good VF, toned. A bit weak around the periphery, but actually a very nice example of the type.
