IONIA, Ephesus. Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ Medallion (37mm, 31.61 g). Laureate and cuirassed bust right wearing aegis / Cult statue of Diana of Ephesus, sun and moon on either side within ornate octastyle temple set on three-tiered base. BMC Ionia pg. 77, 224; SNG Copenhagen 387; SNG von Aulock -. Good Fine, smooth, dark greenish-brown patina, large hole (attempted puncture?) on obverse. The large hole is not a centering hole in the die. As the edges of the hole are still raised and sharp, it must have been applied after the coin had circulated for a long time.
