BOIOTIA, Federal Coinage. Circa 395-340 BC. AR Hemidrachm (2.34 g). Boiotian shield / Kantharos; above, club right; BO-I across lower field; to lower left, remnant of vertical crescent composed of two lines facing left (mostly erased on the die); all within concave circle. Head, Boeotia p. 78. Near VF, even grey tone, minor porosity, light scratches in field on reverse. Unusual and interesting. ($100)

This coin appears to be a later imitation of reduced weight. Nevertheless there has been an attempt to erase the crescent again, this time on the die (see lot 41 above).
