Two major sales, and one of the most extensive and important collections of Greek coins to have been offered at auction at this point in time. A successful barrister and politician, Sir Edward Herbert Bunbury (1811–1895) was also a much respected scholar who, alongside his many contributions to the Numismatic Chronicle, also authored the seminal History of Ancient Geography, first published in 1879 and still in print and widely used today.
