SELEUKID EMPIRE. Antiochos III ‘the Great’. 222-187 BC. AR Tetradrachm (26.5mm, 16.04 g, 12h). Antioch on the Orontes mint(?). Struck circa 197-192/0 BC. Diademed head right (Type D) / Apollo, testing arrow and resting hand on grounded bow, seated left on omphalos; monogram to inner right. Unpublished, but cf. HGC 9, 447u for type. Artificial tone, edge broken and repaired, some marks. VF. Extremely rare.

This monogram is unattested on any issue of this Seleukid king. Although the issue is unpublished, the style is nearly identical to that found on the tetradrachms of Antiochos III’s 4th series at Antioch on the Orontes.
