ROMAN. Silver statue of Bacchus wearing gold mask. 2nd-3rd centuries AD. (35mm). For use in a personal altar, the togate figure wears a gold mask, resembling a theater mask. He holds a patera in right hand and feather in left. Toned. About as made. The depiction of Bacchus is uncommon. An exceptional example of a personal idol.
