Andronicus II Palaeologus. 1282-1328. AV Hyperpyron (23.5mm, 3.95 g, 6h). Class Ib. Constantinople mint. Struck circa 1282-1294. Half-length figure of the Theotokos, orans, within city walls with six towers; sigla: I | (I with three pellets) / Andronicus, without nimbus, kneeling right before Christ Pantokrator. Cf. DOC 233-234; PCPC 91A (cf. sigla 83); LPC p. 34, 1; SB 2326. Toned, lightly clipped, a few light scratches, areas of flat strike. VF.
