Andronicus II Palaeologus. 1282-1328. AV Hyperpyron Nomisma (26mm, 4.60 g, 6h). Class Ia. Constantinople mint. Struck circa 1282-1294. Half-length facing figure of the Theotokos, orans, within city walls with four towers; sigla: A | monogram / Andronicus, nimbate, kneeling right, being blessed by Christ standing slightly left. DOC –; PCPC 91a (sigla 94 var. [Andronicus without nimbus]); LPC p. 34, 1; SB 2326. Edge split, some weakness, minor marks and small graffito on reverse margin. VF.
