1847-O Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. NGC AU 58. Variety 3 (?). 4486391-008. The reverse die corresponds most closely with Variety 3 but is in a very late die state (spiderweb die cracks through the rim areas and major die erosion) that an exact attribution remains speculative. Doug Winter says that the 1847-O Quarter Eagle “is available in any circulated grade, although well-struck, properly graded AU55 and AU58 examples are not easy to locate”.
