Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ Sestertius (32mm, 23.61 g, 12h). Rome mint. Special emission, AD 229. Laureate bust right, slight drapery / Severus Alexander seated left on curule chair set on platform decorated with bas relief; to left, Liberalitas standing left, holding abacus and cornucopia; to right, an officer and a soldier standing left, the soldier holding spear; to left, citizen mounting steps to platform. RIC IV 578; BMCRE 565; Banti 41/A (this coin illustrated). Brown patina, smoothing. VF. Very rare and an extremely rare variety with the platform decorated with bas relief. Banti cites only one example, this coin. One other in CoinArchives.
