POTTERY. Southern Italian Colonies. c. 4th-3rd Cent. BCE. (130 mm wide x 170 mm tall). A large, simply constructed oinochoe in white ware with no glaze. A large domed body tapers to a squat mid-sized neck. The spout is pinched, and a handle extends from the lip to the upper portion of the body of the vessel. The piece is simply decorated with horizonal parallel lines in pairs at the mid of the body, and with embellishments in black paint via two crosses with dots in fields on upper body, two linear borders on neck, a black line outlining the handle and two eyes before the spout. Some minor deposits and minor loss at edges and front of spout. Website shipping rates do not apply.
