Northern France, Rouen. Circa AD 1470. Leaf (4.91”x6.89”). Medieval Book of Hours. Illuminated leaf containing Matthew 2:1-4a on one side and Luke 1: 34-38 on the other. From a prayer book worthy of someone of some means for the time. Gold, red, blue, green, and white illumination. Ink mostly intact. Slight browning and tiny tears at edge. Some fading. Faint spacing markings visible. Old price and code penciled in at lower margin. VF. A nice leaf with two passages containing sections of the accounts of Christ’s birth.
