Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Titus right, seen from the front / Nike advancing right, holding palm frond and wreath; star and KϚ (date) to right. Cf. Meshorer 160/160a (for obv./rev. type); cf. Hendin 6314/6314a (same); RPC II 2276; Sofaer 228 var. (no star on rev.); CNG 118, lot 788. Green patina with earthen deposits, some porosity, cleaning scratches. VF. Extremely rare combination of bust type with star on the reverse; not recorded by Hendin, only one in RPC. |
