POTTERY. Southern Italian Greek Colonies. Gnathia. C. 4th – 2nd Cent. BCE. (75 mm wide x 185 mm tall). An Epichysis of Gnathian form with a squat tapered foot, wide body that seamlessly terminates in a tall spout with rounded taper at terminus. Either side of the spout is flared. A single long handle extends from the base of the spout to the body. On the body itself, a single Lady of Fashion is depicted with vines to either side. Both above and below, several lines of geometric shapes, including V-Chevrons and spirals. Minor loss of details from use. Interesting detailed painting. Handle reattached and touched up, otherwise intact and attractive. Website shipping rates do not apply. |
