Horseman, wearing chlamys and petasos, holding two spears, riding horse left / AR-CE-LAO, forepart of goat right, head reverted, within linear border in incuse square. Westermark, Staters, Group 1 (unlisted dies); Westermark, Remarks pl. LXIX, 1; AMNG III 1 var. (orientation of name); SNG ANS 64 var. (same); SNG München -; SNG Alpha Bank 137. Good VF, lightly toned, some flatness on obverse, possibly overstruck. Rare first coinage of Archelaos, with superb detail of horseman. ($3000)
