LUCANIA, Herakleia. Time of Pyrrhos, circa 281-278 BC. AR Drachm (16mm, 3.82 gm, 12h). Head of Athena facing slightly right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with Skylla hurling a stone; monogram under left helmet crest / Owl standing right on olive branch, head facing; to left, club above |-; uncertain magistrate's name to right. Van Keuren 117 (same dies); SNG ANS 81 var. (no |- below club); HN Italy 1414. VF, attractive iridescent tone.

The example of this coin in Van Keuren is struck such that he does not list a magistrate's name for this issue. This specimen, though, definitely shows indistinct letters in the field where a magistrate's name appears on concurrent issues (cf. Van Keuren 119-120 and 122).
