From the year 503 (206/07 AD), the reverse imperial portrait was a bearded head that clearly was meant to represent the mature Caracalla. Starting in year 513 (21/17 AD), however, the bust changes to a beardless draped bust with more indeterminate features. Perhaps most of Rhescuporis' year 513 staters were struck after the overthrow of Caracalla in April, 217, and the Bosporans chose a neutral, unidentifiable imperial portrait as a expedient.
