NORMAN. William I 'the Conqueror'. 1066-1087. AR Penny (20mm, 1.29 g, 12h). Profile/Cross Fleurée type (BMC i). Winceastre (Winchester) mint; Anderboda, moneyer. Struck 1066-1068. + PILLEMVS REX Λ, crowned bust left; quatrefoil-tipped scepter before / + ΛNDERBODE ON PII, cross fleurée, with pellet-in-annulet at center. Harvey 1890 corr. (obv. legend, dies E/f – this coin); SCBI 53 (Scottish), 16 var. (obv. legend); BMC 55 var. (rev. legend); North 839; SCBC 1250. Good VF, toned, slight doubling on reverse. Rare.
