ITALY. Academy of Verona Prize Medal. Æ Medal (44mm, 30.78 g, 12h). By Francesco Putinati. Dated 1806, but struck circa 1830-1840. CATULLUS MAPHEIUS FRACASTORIUS, laureate and draped bust of Catullus (84-54 BC) right, and conjoined busts of Scipio Maffei (1675-1755) and Girolamo Fracastoro (1478-1553) left, vis-à-vis; EP. FN. on truncation of Catullus’ bust / SERTUM COLENTI, Minerva, standing left, holding spear and shield set on ground and surrounded by aspects of the intellect, presenting laurel branch to young male student standing right.
