MEC 1, 340 (same dies); Hunter 2 (same dies). EF, toned. Very rare.

From the collection of Dr. Lawrence A. Adams, purchased from R. M. Smythe, February 2000.

Twenty specimens, all from the same dies and virtually uncirculated, were discovered in 1845 at Gourdon, near Chalon-sur-Saône. It is possible that this was part of a small local issue struck in that vicinity.
