Late period I, circa 915-920. + EADVVEARD REX, small cross pattée / RODB/ERHT in two lines; three crosses pattée between, trefoils above and below. CTCE 256; SCBI –; BMC –; North 649; SCBC 1087. Superb EF, lightly toned. Engravers guidelines evident on reverse. Of distinctive West Mercian style. Extremely rare – CTCE notes only a single example, in the BM; none in the EMC.
