CONSTANS II. 641-668 AD. AV Solidus (4.47 gm). Constantinople mint. Struck 642-645 AD. dN CONSTAN TINUS PP AVG, small crowned facing bust, holding globus cruciger / VICTORIA AVGU, cross potent on three steps; E/CONOBK. DOC II 2b (Heraclonas); MIB III 4a; SB 937. EF. $395.

Philip Grierson in the Dumbarton Oaks catalogue attributes the small narrow bust solidi to Heraclonas, who reigned for six months in 641. Although not generally accepted, this attribution is still plausible, and the scarcity of the types suggest it was a very brief issue.
