SICILY, Syracuse. Second Democracy. 466-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (23mm, 17.34 g, 2h). Struck circa 430 BC. Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand and reins in both, driving slow quadriga right; above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with open wreath held in both hands / Head of Arethusa right, hair in ornate sakkos, wearing plain necklace; ΣYPAKOΣION and four dolphins around. Boehringer 641 (V326/R441); Boston MFA 387-8 (same dies); SNG Lockett 952 (same dies); HGC 2, 1319. Good VF, toned. Struck on a broad flan.
