Ti. Claudius Nero was the grandfather of the emperor Tiberius. The true meaning of the obverse and reverse types is not known, but it has been suggested that the reverse type of Victory may allude to the successes of C. Claudius Nero, an ancestor of this moneyer, and his victory over Hannibal for which he received a triumph.
