PHOENICIA, Tyre. Gallienus. AD 253-268. Æ (29mm, 13.26 g, 6h). Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Roma seated left on shield, holding pair of statuettes on prow and spear; in right field, murex. Rouvier 2525; BMC 480. Fine, brown patina. earthen highlights.


Although the obverse legend is nearly illegible, only this type with murex in the right field as opposed to the left was struck for Gallienus. Those with the murex in the left field are in the name of Valerian I.
