Δ[OMITIANΩN] KAIC-APA ΘЄCAΛOI, laureate head of Domitian right / ΔOMITIA CЄBACTH , draped bust of Domitia right, hair in long queue tied in back. Burrer Em. 2, Series 1, 71.1 (A22/R54 – this coin, obv. and rev. illustrated on pl. 15); BCD Thessaly I 1407 var.; RPC II 277 (this coin cited and illustrated). Near VF, green patina. The sole example cited by Burrer and RPC for this variety.

From the BCD Collection.

While the “Domitian/Domitia” diassaria must have been struck in considerable quantities, there are a number of minor varieties, many of which are quite rare or even unique. Burrer divided this basic type into two emissions based on the forms of letters (namely, “E” vs. “Є”, “Σ” vs. “C”).
