Laureate head right / VIC PART P M TR P XX COS IIII P P, Caracalla, holding globe and scepter, standing left, crowned by Victory, holding palm, who stands left behind him; at his feet, bound captive seated left.. RIC IV 299e; RSC 655. Good VF, minor die rust on obverse. Very rare.


This rare last issue celebrates the victory Caracalla hoped to attain against the Parthians, with whom he was at war against since previous year. Caracalla, however, was murdered in his camp before the campaign was concluded.
