BOEOTIA, Thebes. Circa 425-395 BC. AR Stater (22mm, 12.23 g). Later style. Boeotian shield / Bearded head of Dionysos right, wearing ivy wreath; Θ/E (retrograde) on left; all within concave incuse. BCD Boiotia 440 (this coin); Head, Boeotia p. 36, class β, pl. III, 4 = BMC 54, pl. XIII, 5; Myron pl. B, 11 (same dies); SNG Copenhagen -; SNG Delepierre 1353 (same rev. die). EF, even grey tone, golden hues around the devices.. Struck with an artistic reverse die.
