Carinus. As Caesar, AD 282-283. Antoninianus (21mm, 3.76 g, 6h). Siscia mint, 2nd officina. 2nd emission, 2nd phase, December AD 282. Radiate and cuirassed bust right / Carinus standing right, holding scepter with left hand and receiving crowning Victory on globe from Jupiter standing left, holding scepter with left hand; B//XXI. Cf. RIC V 206 (Antioch); Pink VI/2, p. 44. Near EF, brown patina.

Although RIC placed all of these VIRTVS AVGG issues under Antioch, there was a limited issue of this type at Siscia, as noted by Pink. Not only are the portraits clearly similar to other Siscia issues, the mintmark without star is only on Antioch issues well after Carinus was made Augustus.
