Barbarous Radiates. Late 3rd century AD-5th century AD. Antoninianus (15mm, 2.43 g, 6h). Imitating Tetricus II. C PIV ES TETRICVS C AVG, radiate and draped bust right / COM-[E]-S AV-G, Victory standing left, holding palm in left hand and wreath in right hand. Cf. RIC V 224. Good VF.


The addition of the ‘C’ in the obverse legend, which could be read as an abbreviation for the title of Caesar, would mark an interesting engraver’s mistake in conjunction with the title of Augustus, also appearing in the legend
