Barbarous Radiates. Late 3rd century AD-5th century AD. Antoninianus (15mm, 2.11 g, 12h). Imitating Tetricus I. [I]MP C TETRICVS P F AVGG, radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / IETRI-T AVGG, female figure (Salus?) standing left, holding rudder with left hand and feeding serpent rising from altar with right hand . Cf. RIC V 121. Good VF.


The reverse legend is clear, yet its meaning is not. While the image on the reverse closely matches the coin referenced, the legend does not appear to be an abbreviation for any of the deities commonly depicted upon coinage
