NERO CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG GER P M TR IM III P P, laureate bust right; aegis at point of bust / Roma seated left on cuirass, right foot on helmet, holding Victory and parazonium; shields around and behind; S C across field; ROMA in exergue. Cf. Johnson & Martini 1422-5 (for type); cf. Klawans 5 (DECVRSIO reverse; same obv. die). Brown patina, minor edge splits. Good VF. A rare struck Cavino in fine style.

The obverse depicts a much more finely rendered portrait of Nero than on any recorded by Johnson & Martini. Likewise, no precise match was found for the reverse, which is among the rarest Paduan types for this emperor. Accordingly, it may not actually be a work of Cavino himself, but certainly belongs to the same period.
