Carausius. Romano-British Emperor, AD 286-293. AR Denarius (19mm, 4.63 g, 6h). ‘RSR’ mint. IMP CARAVSIVS P F AVG, laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / RENOVAT ROMANO, She-wolf standing right, head facing, suckling the twins (Romulus and Remus); RSR. RIC V.5 117 (forthcoming); RIC V 571; Shiel 68-71; RSC 82. Toned, hairline flan crack. Good VF. Very rare. Well struck.

Though often called the first ruler of a united Britain, Carausius employed imagery in his propaganda that was almost entirely Roman in character, including this issue depicting the famous she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus.
